The Young Minds Digital Times Film Competition (YMDT) started in 2008 as a collaboration between OneSeventeen Media, KidThrive and Manor New Tech High School in Manor, Texas. Today, we are excited to soon launch our 4th Annual Competition - a collaboration between PlumbBrain, OneSeventeen Media and KidThrive.org. Our goal is to continue to offer an innovative film competition for students around the world to showcase their work, compete against their peers and tackle pressing social issues.
Teens and tweens have lots to say, ideas to share and talent to showcase, so we've created this competition as a learning opportunity for participants.
We have a vested interest in students using their digital know how to promote social good, so while students have the chance to enter any film they create, we’re extra excited to see their talents put to work in Track One: Young Filmmakers Doing Good!
Once the dates are determined for the 2012 Competition we'll provide you with dates for competition registration, the last day for registration, the first day students may upload films, the deadline for film submission, the start and end dates for public voting as well as dates for each level of the judging process.
So, check back frequently and we'll have deadlines posted here. Or, you can sign up now by clicking on the Sign Up Now image on the home page and providing us with your registration information.
The three tiered judging system includes:
All winners will be announced on this site and by press release. Winning students will be notified by email before the announcement.
After you submit your registration through this site, within 24 hours an automated confirmation email is sent to the email address you provided, as well as to your parent and sponsoring teacher. SAVE THIS EMAIL. The email contains your personal submission passkey that you will later need to submit and upload your film. Come back to this site to upload and submit your film during the times listed above under How It Works. Be sure that you use your submission key, and ONLY your submission key, or you will not get credit for your film.
Because these files are quite large, they can take several hours to upload on slower connections. We recommend that you do not try to upload over a wireless connection, but plug into the internet to speed up the process. Each entry is reviewed by the YMDT competition staff for appropriate content before it posts online. Once approved, the film can take up to 24 hours to post to the site, so do not expect to see it right away.
If you have problems submitting or have misplaced your submission key, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and someone will respond within 48 hours, but probably sooner.
